Forty Four Sycamore
28 Sep 2002 - Limerick Leader:
"44 Sycamore is maliciously funny" (by Aidan Corr)

44 Sycamore is maliciously funny

By AIDAN CORR

IF you feel like a good night out and a great laugh, then 44 Sycamore is the show for you. Written by one of Ireland's favourite playwrights Bernard Farrell, 44 Sycamore is brought to you by the team which was responsible for the phenomenally successful Alone It Stands and 12 Angry Men.

This hilarious comedy is set on the newly built Sycamore Estate. The play revolves around the events of a 'dinner party from hell 'as a young couple try to impress and entertain their more established neighbours. The arrival of an uninvited guest changes the course of the evening with some surprising results.

As the Celtic tiger prowls into the night and myriad Tribunals of Enquiry struggle to unravel the shady land deals of the Eighties, Bernard Farrell's uproarious comedy is even more relevant in today's Ireland.

Directed by Jim Nolan, it stars Ciaran McMahon, Fiona Browne, Sean Power, Niall O Brien and Jenny Maher. Jim Nolan is a founder member and former Artistic Director of Red Kettle Theatre Company.

Ciaran McMahon has appeared most recently in Alone It Stands, Niall O Brien is an Abbey actor of many years standing and has toured internationally with the Abbey. Sean Power was last seen playing juror no. 7 in 12 Angry Men, Fiona Browne has also worked in film and television and Jenny Maher will be known for her part in Upwardly Mobile and Bull Island.
